The FBI is investigating a robbery at a Fort Deposit bank that occurred Friday.

According to Douglas Astralaga, supervisory special agent media coordinator of the Mobile Division of the FBI, the BancorpSouth Bank branch, located at  307 East Jones St., was robbed at noon.

BancorpSouth Bank Division President John Lyon confirmed that the bank was robbed, but could not provide further details.

Special Agent Astralaga said the FBI is on the scene, investigating and “following every lead.”

The Lowndes Signal has also been unsuccessful in getting any details from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department or Fort Deposit Police Department.
