At Daybreak Farms it’s all about getting lost.

The farm is home to a pair of corn mazes that span more than eight and a half acres for visitors to get lost in and then find their way back.

The mazes are open through the month of October. They are open to schools Wednesday through Friday, but reservations are necessary. For the public, the mazes are open on Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Visitors can tailor their experience by choosing to visit the mazes during the day or the night.

“A lot of people walk around during the day, but at night time, we set up glow sticks on flashlights and it’s a different experience,” Tom Duncan, owner of Daybreak Farms, said. “We have reference lights, and it’s walking around in the corn and getting lost.”

For Duncan, the corn mazes are a way to educate the public about the farm and farm life.

“It’s just a way to get some folks back to the farm and see what one looks like and the peace and quiet of a farm,” Duncan said. “We have a lot of schools coming to visit. We give an educational class that’s about 30-40 minutes to show what’s going on with corn, what it takes to grow it, and what it takes to get it from the ground to the table.”

Along with the two mazes, Duncan also built a concession stand and “party barn” that can host birthday parties, family reunions and other events.

“There is a cow barn and silo, tractor and plows, a petting zoo with just farm animals, hay rides, cow train rides, calf roping, kettle tractors and trikes and a shelled corn box instead of sand,” Duncan said.

The cost of admission to the corn mazes is $8 per adult, $6 for children ages 3-12 and for groups of 20 people or more it is $5 per person.
