Eugene “Gene” Wasden, 88, a resident of Greenville, AL, died on Thursday, September 22, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home in Greenville, AL with Rev. Watson Wasden and Rev. Bob Garrard officiating. Visitation is Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Park, Greenville, AL with Dunklin & Daniels directing.

Mr. Wasden was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Morris Wasden and Ethel Sims Wasden, his brother Gerald Wasden and wife Winnie, his sister LaMerle Wasden Brown and husband Ridley. He is survived by his wife Frances Stuart Wasden, nephew James Morris Brown and wife Glenda. Great nieces, Debbie Braden and husband Troy, Kathy Pickens and husband Leander and a host of cousins.

Mr. Wasden was a life long resident of Sandcut Community. He was self-employed in Road Construction for many years and served Butler County for 32 years as County Commissioner. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned five Battle Stars during his service.
