Greenville Middle School jumped out early and never looked back en route to a 30-6 win against Wetumpka Thursday night at Tiger Stadium.

“I cant explain how proud I am of these young men,” first-year head coach Daniel Ingram said. “They worked hard preparing for this game and it paid off.”

It certainly paid off in the first quarter when the Tigers scored 24 unanswered points. Dequarius Peterson got Greenville on the scoreboard with a  10-yard scoring run.

Barret Bush connected with Jaquan Lewis for the two-point conversion to give Greenville an 8-0 lead.

Bush and Brandon Simmons both threw touchdown passes for the Tigers and Dearius Mitchell intercepted a Wetumpka pass and returned it for a score in the win.

“The defense was outstanding,” Ingram said. “Our defense was very physical and fired up for the game. While they dont normally get alot of the credit, our D line was key to our success.”

The Tigers (2-0) will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Troy. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
