The Butler County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case in which a 68-year-old man was assaulted in his home.

According to Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden, a Georgiana man was severely beaten inside his Jane Avenue home on Tuesday. Authorities are not releasing the name of the victim.

“We’re investigating,” Harden said. “All we really know at this point is that there was no forced entry and that the man was assaulted.”

According to Harden, the victim was taken to Georgiana Hospital and later transported to a Montgomery hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries.

Authorities are not releasing any further information due to the ongoing investigation.
