(L-R) Thrifty-Teers Doris Peagler, Willie Mae Robinson, guest Marie Perdue, Ruby Shambray, Mozelle Peagler and Mildred Cook prepare to take a trip in style.

Members and guests of the Thrifty-Teers Professional Club enjoyed a limo ride to the Kirkpatrick Memorial Garden in Andalusia as part of the celebration of their 58th anniversary.

The memorial garden is a creation of C.L. Kirkpatrick, a local funeral director, as a tribute to his wife, who perished on the site in a house fire during Hurricane Ivan. Diaon Cook of Andalusia coordinated the trip.

Part of their activities that day included a tribute to the late Clara Hudson, a recently deceased member of the club.

Members of the Thrifty-Teers are involved in a number of service and community projects. They also award a scholarship each year to a student pursuing higher education. This year’s recipients were Shawna Peagler and Thorin Tramelle Shambray, students at Troy University and grandchildren of club members.

The members are planning an even more eventful celebration for their 60th anniversary.
