Evergreen – After 24 years of outstanding service to Reid State Technical College students throughout the six-county service area, Dr. Shirley Brackin will retire effective August 31, 2011.

Brackin provided excellent instruction as a Practical Nursing faculty and clinical instructor.  Her leadership includes department chair and instructor of Practical Nursing and Health Careers and Assistant and Associate Dean of Instructional Programs at RSTC.
Brackin has had an unparalleled impact on the college as a whole, especially on health career students with emphasis on Practical Nursing.  Although Brackin is retiring in order to spend more time with family, she will continue to serve as a consultant as needed with the College, especially with “her practical nursing program.”
“The practical nursing program is in great shape and is being left in the hands of a tremendously knowledgeable, compassionate, and committed faculty,” Brackin said. “The NCLEX passage rate is as high as ever, enrollment is bursting at the seams, and retention continues to show improvement.  Dr. (Douglas) Littles has promised to continue to pursue an RN program as the economy turns around.  I promise to be available to assist as needed and look forward to that possibility.  Reid State’s best days are ahead, so stay tuned, and All Aboard!”
