First Steps Summer “Fun” Camp, located on the Butler County Board of Education campus, will offer lots of fun and educational outdoor and indoor activities this summer for children ages 5-9.
Among the many activities, says Lisa Nimmer of Healthy Kids, are arts and crafts, games, skits and songs, computer lab, sports, water play, special guests (including weekly visits from The Greenville-Butler County Public Library), field trips and theme-related activities planned specifically for their age group.
“We are confident 2011 will be our best summer yet,” Nimmer said. “We want to give experiences that will help promote self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-worth in our campers. The children have a chance to experience new things, make new friends and have lots of fun. First Steps Summer “Fun” Camp is not just another day camp. It’s a summer of discovery for our campers.”
Hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, beginning May 31 and continuing through August 12. Cost is $80 a week or $20 per day. There is a $5 discount off the weekly rate for those who register between May 20 and May 27.
The City of Greenville Summer Feeding Program will provide a lunch for most of the summer and a snack is provided each day. Class space is limited. To register call (334) 371-2104.
