Mrs. Arvie Ruth Arant Kilpatrick, 78, a resident of Forest Home, Ala., died on Tuesday evening, May 10, 2011. She was the third child of the late Daniel Carson and Ruth Arant. She was the wife of the late Cluron William Kilpatrick. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home with minister Daniel Roberts, Elder Glen Huggins and minister Dennis Sanders officiating. Burial followed in New Home Methodist Church Cemetery with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. The family received friends prior to services. She is survived her children, Wanda Ruth Weed of Brantley, Ala., Larry Thomas Weed of Brantley, Ala., Charles Cluron Kilpatrick of Forest Home, Ala., Diane Olney Kilpatrick of Forest Home, Ala., George Craig Kilpatrick of Andalusia, Ala., Evone Jeffcoat Kilpatrick of Andalusia, Ala., John Hyman Kilpatrick of Luverne, Ala., and Keith William Kilpatrick of Forest Home, Ala.; siblings, Arlene Bush of Georgiana, Ala., Tina Hayes of Georgiana, Ala., Alvin Arant of Bessemer, Ala., Reba Ward of Brooksville, Fla.; sisters by marriage, Lucy Kilpatrick of Luverne, Ala., Betty Smith of Greenville, Ala., Jane Bryant of Theodore, Ala., and Lois Arant of Bessemer, Ala.; brothers, Will Hayes of Georgiana, Ala., Bobby Ward of Brooksville, Fla.; grandchildren, Ricky Weed, Tommy Weed, William Kilpatrick, Nicholas Kilpatrick, Ben Kilpatrick, Jeremy Kilpatrick, Jim Kilpatrick, Brandon Kilpatrick, Leslie Kilpatrick, Joshua Kilpatrick and Elizabeth Kilpatrick. Mrs. Kilpatrick was born on December 4, 1932, and raised on a small farm in Georgiana, Ala., in the depression era. Mama was the middle child of five in a good loving family. Mama attended New Home Methodist Church and she hated velvet beans. Mama loved animals, nature and growing things. Her heart was full of love, kindness and compassion for others. She always was concerned about others and put others before herself. Mama was very intelligent as was blessed with wisdom. Mama graduated as the valedictorian of the class of 1951 from Georgiana High School. Mama married her high school sweetheart and raised her own family in the Rutledge community. Mama was not the type of person to preach to others with her words but she showed Jesus living in her life. Mama served God by serving others and taught by example. Mama always made time for her children and grandchildren. Mama loved to teach them common but important things; to love nature, to love God, and to love each other. Mama always made people feel welcomed in her presence and part of her family. Mama was full of hospitality and loved to entertain friends and family. Mama had a way of making people feel special and good, of great value and importance; because they always were to her. One of her favorite Bible scriptures was Psalms 23.
