SPECIAL TO THE JOURNAL

The Eighteenth Annual Glenwood Festival at the Well, on May 21st, features an all star line up of entertainers unmatched in previous years. Grammy award winning songwriter and entertainer Bobby Tomberlin, himself a Crenshaw County native, will make an early appearance at the festival.

Tomberlin will be accompanied by his wife Candi Carpenter, another outstanding vocalist with a brand new CD who just completed her first video shoot, along with well-known Los Angeles musician Shayne Fair who has performed with such greats as Dicky Betts, Bill Medly and more.

The trio will be on a tight schedule, festival spokesman Steve Holmes reports, as they have to perform at another event an hour away by 12:30. “That’s just another great reason to join us early,” He continued.

“The parade kicks off our festival at 9:00 a.m. We hope they can perform soon after the parade. Crenshaw County is proud to call Bobby a native son and our little festival is honored to have his fine show participate.”

Another well known Alabama Gospel entertainer, Harlan Burton, will make a return engagement by popular demand early in the afternoon.

The historic flowing well in the center of Glenwood is the site of the event opening with the parade at 9:00 and winding up with a street dance starting at 8:00 p.m.

Live stage entertainment throughout the day includes a children’s beauty pageant, Gospel, Bluegrass, cloggers, line dancers, door prizes and surprises.

The streets and grounds surrounding Glenwood’s landmark artesian well will be filled with food vendors, arts and crafts booths and activities for the kids. Delicious smoked bar b q and all the trimmings will be served up by the Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department. Meals and take home items will be available till they sell out.

The street dance featuring the group County Line runs from 8:00 p.m. until the cows come home.
Reserved tables are still available for the street dance and limited booth/vendor space is also still available. For more information, contact 335-3165 or 335-3426.
