Hancock, Hancock, Brantley and Star win FDA golf tournament

David Hancock, Sanders Hancock, David Brantley and Sam Star fired a 51.8 to claim first place at the Fort Dale Academy Golf Tournament Wednesday at Cambrian Ridge.

But according to tournament organizer Ken Gibson, the big winner was the Fort Dale Athletic Club. Fifty-two golfers took part in the event, which raised more than $7,000 for the Fort Dale Athletic Club, an organization that was created to support Fort Dale’s athletic programs.

“It was a great tournament today. We want to thank everyone who came out and played and supported the Fort Dale athletics department,” Gibson said. “It’s mostly the same faces every year, and we appreciate you all coming out and making this tournament a success. It really does help the athletics department out.”

The tournament’s second-place finishers were Earnest Dean, Lomax Owens, Larry Philpot and Don Boutwell with a score of 52.7.

Josh Beverly, Clay Beverly, Damon Daniels and Jerry Dedon claimed third place with a score of 53.9.

Long drive winners were Francine Wasden (women’s division), Phillip Murphy (over 60 division) and Sanders Hancock (men’s division).

Closet to the pin winners were Wasden (women’s division), Ownes (over 60 division) and Trevor Richardson (men’s division).
