Good food and good fellowship were served in grand style Saturday at the Wendell Mitchell Conference Center in Greenville and it was all for a good cause.

The occasion was Safe Harbor’s 2^nd Annual Tablescapes Luncheon.  Guests sat at 16 tables — each decorated in a different theme by its hostess — to enjoy their catered lunch from Emily’s served by Safe Harbor volunteers.

A panel judged the tables and three hostesses took top honors, with third place going to Marianne Russell and her “Nick’s Chicks” Crimson Tide table; second place honors went to Carolyn Spencer’s “Going Dutch” table and the top prize was earned by Mary Dearing and her “Rainbows and Lollipops” design.

The event raised just over $3,000 for the Children’s Advocacy Center, which serves children and their families in Butler, Crenshaw and Lowndes counties who are victims/witnesses to abuse and violence.

“We had a great event. Michael  Rodger’s wonderful piano skills provided us with lovely and soothing background music and everyone loved the beautiful tables.  We appreciate everyone who donated to and supported this event,” said Kathy Smyth, director of Safe Harbor. “I think some of the ladies are already planning their tablescapes for next year!”
