Several structures around the Camellia City are slated to be pulled down as part of phase III of the CDBG Demolition Grant. It was announced at Monday night’s public hearing prior to the Greenville City Council meeting a total of ten buildings are already set to be demolished in the Methodist Hill and Baptist Hill neighborhoods and on Commerce St. in downtown Greenville.

“We’ve already had several dozen properties demolished through this grant and I really think this has helped improve the way our city looks,” said Mayor Dexter McLendon.

In new business, the Council voted to authorize purchase of the City’s auto, property and liability insurance coverage for April 20, 2011- April 19, 2021.

The following expenditures were approved Monday night:

*Gulf State Distributors-$3, 234.50 for ammunition for qualifying and other training by the Greenville PD.

*BSN Sports-$5,694.77 for 522 caps, baseball equipment, catcher’s mitt and pocket radar by the Recreation Department.

*Greenville Glass-$1,450 for panic equipment and security keypad entry lock for City Hall rear door.

*Marshall Lumber & Mill-$1,088.15 to replace rear door of City Hall including new custom-sized wooden door, hinges, framing and weather stripping.

The next City Council meeting will be Monday, April 25 at 5:30 p.m.
