A vivacious cowgirl with a tremendous talent for trick riding is coming to the 2nd Annual Butler County Sheriff’s Rodeo at the fairgrounds next weekend.

Kristy Lei Harris, a native of Indianapolis who now resides in Tennessee, will be bringing her beautiful paint horse Jamie to Butler County to show off her amazing riding skills, honed from years in the saddle performing trick riding and barrel racing at rodeos across the country.

Harris, a full-time college student who also currently performs at the Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, made a big impression on members of the BCSO.

“We got to see this girl ride in a rodeo over in Mississippi and the Sheriff and I were really impressed with her abilities,” said Travis Johnson, an investigator for the BCSO.

“It is truly phenomenal to watch her ride. You can tell she really loves what she does.”

Harris’s colorful, eye-catching costumes, dexterity and grace on horseback and her splashy patriotic finale are “not to be missed.”

The rodeo is set for April 1 and 2 with free admission on Friday night between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. for anyone wearing last years’ official rodeo T-shirt.
