Funeral services for the Rev. Alfonza Hawthorne were held on Monday,February 28, 2011 at 1 p.m. from Lomax-Hannon Auditorium with the Rev. Phillip Bruce McCreary officiating. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery with Hudson Funeral Services directing. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 56 years, Lillie Simpson Hawthorne, five children, Albert (Jennifer) Hawthorne, Patricia H. Davidson of Greenville, Lenita Hawthorne, Beverly (Rudolph) Byrts of Montgomery and Bruce (Gail) Hawthorne of Birmingham; ten grandchildren, Creshenda (Elfin) Edwards, Corinthia Hawthorne, Candace (Derick) Wells, Cornelius Bradley, Corey Bradley, Chancil Hawthorne, Ashley Foster, Latorya Hawthorne, Devin Byrts and Gabrielle Hawthorne; a special niece, Heather (Mark) Crittenden; special grandchildren, Markita and Joshua of Greenville; sisters and brothers, Ethel M. Bennett of Bay Minette; Barbara Andrews and Jimmie Hawthorne Jr., Dundee, Fla.
