Relay supporters ready for fundraisers to ‘Rustle Up a Cure’

Relay For Life is preparing to “Rustle Up a Cure” on May 6 and they need all the chief cowpokes to head on over to the Y for the latest news.
With Relay less than two months away, Team Captains are encouraged to make plans to attend the next meeting, set for 5:30 p.m., March 15 at the Greenville YMCA.
“We now have more than 30 teams on board and there is still time to form a team if you haven’t already,” said Team Development chair Marie Owens.
One of the new teams joining the fight against cancer this year: The City of Greenville.
“We are really excited to have our mayor and his team becoming part of Relay in 2011. It’s a great example for our community,” said Relay chair Galahad Smith.
The next big Relay fundraiser is the Butler County Bike Ride set for March 19, which includes both three options for adult cyclists and a short Kids’ Ride starting at the Butler County Fairgrounds.
“My children signed up for this last year and had a total blast. I would encourage other kids to come and be a part of this,” said Owens.
“We have great street coverage by the local police and sheriff departments to keep everyone safe. It is also a lot of fun for adults, so get your bikes and let’s ride!”
Registration is $40 for adults and $5 for children and can be done online at www.relayforlife.org/butleral (click on “join the bike ride team”).

Another popular fundraiser, now being sponsored by the Relay Board is the Miss Relay Pageant, set for April 2 at the Ritz Theatre. Divisions from birth to adult will be included.
“Since this is not a team-sponsored fundraiser, anyone participating in this pageant can designate their entry fee to any team they choose,” said Owens.
