Mrs. Doris K. Strickland, age 86, a resident of Braggs, AL died on Sunday morning, February 6, 2011, at Hillview Terrace Nursing Home in Montgomery, AL.  Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011, in New Bethel Cemetery in Braggs, AL at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Steve Stephens officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home.

Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Strickland, son, J. Lamar Strickland, parents, Alva and Alice Miley, brothers, Earl Miley, Ceigel Miley, sisters, Lovie Mae Sellers and Louise Mims.  She is survived by sons, Earl J. (Donna) Strickland, Jr. of Helena, AL, Jim (Martha Smith) Strickland of Marietta, GA, daughter-in-law, Betty Strickland of Montgomery, AL, grandchildren, Randall Strickland, Richard Strickland, Jennifer Gilcrease, Clayton Strickland, Kim Dyrendahl, ten great-grandchildren, sisters, Mary (John) Crews of Heiberger, AL, Geneva (James) McCrory of Valley Grande, AL, Betty Jean Smith of Jackson, MS, and brother, E.J. (Marilyn) Miley of Plainfield, IL.

Pallbearers will be Richard Strickland, Randall Strickland, Clayton Strickland, Jeffrey Gilcrease, Nate Dyrendahl, David Miley, and Willie Lewis Rudolph.

Mrs. Strickland was a member of the Braggs Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for over 50 years. The family extends a special “Thank You” to the staff of Hillview Terrace Nursing Home, especially the Oak Station Wing, for the years of care they provided to Doris.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Braggs New Bethel Cemetery Fund, c/o Derril Strickland, 15293 State Highway 21 South, Minter, AL, 36761.
