The Georgiana Panthers wrapped up their regular season with two back-to-back wins on the road against Florala and Highland Home.

Thursday night’s match up against Florala gave the Panther’s a chance to play deep into their roster while some players rested, said coach Kirk Norris. Georgiana came away with a 59-45 victory.

“We played good solid defense, and shot the ball well,” Norris said. “We really had a bigger lead during the game than the final score showed.”

Keon Binion racked up 19 for the night with Adrian Rich picking up 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The 49-31 victory over Highland Home on Friday marked the team’s twentieth win of the season.

“Highland Home has always been a tough place to play, and its always good to grab a win on the road,” Norris said, “After winning a total of 15 games last year, I am proud of our guys performance this season.”

Defense, Norris said, was again the name of the game during this match.

“I’d love to score 70 points ever game, but I have taught my kids that if you can play good defense every night, you can give yourself a chance to win every night,” Norris said. “Shots might not always fall like you want them to, but defense is something you can always plan on.”

Adrian Rich snatched up 11 rebounds and totaled 12 points for the night. Lee Curry and Rickey Everett each picked up 10 points. Adrian Paige laid down 6 blocks for the night, picking up 9 points.

The Panther’s will advance to the Area Tournament at J.F. Shields next Thursday. The girls will face Brantley starting at 5 p.m., with the boys to follow, also versus Brantley, at 6:30 p.m.
