Nellie Smith Marshall, age 88, a resident of Greenville, passed away peacefully at Hillview Terrace Select Rehab on Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Harrison Funeral Home with Reverends John Howard Kervin and Roy Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer East Baptist Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Survivors include: daughters, Sandra (Bill) Porter and Phyliss (Bennie) Simmons; sons : Phillip (Pat) Marshall and John (Brenda) Marshall; sisters : Janie Rogers and Sue Reese; sister-in-law : Ellen (Cecil) Floyd; grandchildren : Anna (Gerard) Brewer, Will (Lori) Porter, Kelly Churchwell , Bobby (Tina) Marshall, Phillip Todd Marshall, Matthew (Tammy) Marshall, Amanda Marshall, Josh  (Amber) Simmons, Lydia Simmons McMahon, Mark (Liz) Strong and 16 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearer will be Randy Russell.

Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Marshall, great-grand-daughter April Cain, great-grandson Kurtis Jones, sisters MaryBelle Hay, Ruby Nix, Sally Russell; brothers, R.D., Ralph and Grady Smith. A special thanks to the caregivers at Rehab Select for their extraordinary care.
