On Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, FBLA members from Georgiana School and their sponsor, Mr. Mark McClaney, participated with the Walk for Diabetes in Montgomery. FBLA members teamed up with walkers and corporate sponsors from across the state to participate in this charitable event. The American Diabetic Association hosted this 3.1 mile walk on the beautiful grounds of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. There were over 1,000 participants to take part in this event. Mr. McClaney had 18 FBLA members and two supporting teachers to participate. Devin Bonner, FBLA member, was the first one in the entire field of walkers to complete the walk, and Josie Raines was the first female FBLA member to complete the walk. Mr. McClaney was extremely proud of his students for giving up their personal time to support this national drive to find a cure for diabetes.
