A present every child (and child at heart) would love could be yours this Christmas, and you could help make a difference in the life of a child.

After the success of last year’s play house raffle to benefit Safe Harbor-The Children’s Advocacy Center, Greenville Pediatrics is bringing back the raffle, with a prize that is truly bigger and better than ever.

“Our antebellum house last year was wonderful, but this play house is even nicer. It’s bigger with more interior play space,” said Ann Keen of Greenville Pediatrics.

Constructed by Larry Heartsill Contractors, the scaled-down log cabin features a front porch, tin roof, four glass windows and is wired for electricity. Inside are a colorful painted “rug” with the sentiment “Welcome to Our Neck of the Woods!” and hearth with a roaring “fire,” with artwork by Ramona Newton, part of the Greenville Pediatrics team.

Like last year’s play house, this one will be decorated and displayed on a float in the Greenville Christmas Parade, set for Dec. 9 in downtown Greenville.

Greenville Cash & Carry donated 25 pieces of lumber used in the construction while the City of Greenville and the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce assisted with ticket printing, distribution, logistics and delivery. Delivery will be available throughout Butler County, and in Crenshaw, Lowndes, Conecuh and Wilcox (any winner from outside this area would need to make arrangements for delivery).

Raffle tickets are $10 each and are available at Greenville Pediatrics, Safe Harbor, Grayson’s and The Pineapple. The drawing is set for Dec. 17 at noon in Confederate Park, with delivery set for the week before Christmas.

“We so appreciate all those who are helping us with this project. We hope to sell 500 tickets and raise $5,000 for Safe Harbor, which is such a very worthy cause,” said Keen.
