Greenville Elementary students Jamel Thompson, Brittany Peagler and Christopher Whiddon, along with teacher Lucy McGowin, are among the students and staff reaping the benefits of the new energy conserving windows being installed at the school by (back row, left) Len Willams of Stallings and Sons Construction.

Replacement of all the single-pane clear windows with low-E double-pane tinted windows, along with the addition of door sweeps and sills, should cause significant energy savings and noise reduction for the classrooms, said GES principal Jai Hill (back row, right). “Everyone should be more comfortable and we’ll be saving on utilities, which could help save jobs, too, in the long run,” Hill said. The project was made possible through an energy conservation grant provided through ADECA totaling more than $27,000.
