Holiday belles can take the stage in Georgiana Dec. 11 to vie for the numerous titles in the Miss Merry Christmas Pageant, sponsored by the Georgiana School PTO.

“We are once again assisting the PTO with this event, which helps raise some much-needed funds for their school,” said Susan Lambert of the Alabama Power Service Organization.

There are eight planned categories for the event: Baby Miss, 0-11 months; Tiny Miss, 2-3 years; Petite Miss, 7-9 years; Teen Miss, 13-15 years; Toddler Miss, 12-23 months; Little Miss, 4-6 years; Junior Miss, 10-12 years and Miss Merry Christmas, 16-18 years.

“Contestants will be judged on poise, beauty and overall appearance,” said Lambert.

Attire is pageant, Sunday or heirloom dresses.

Each category queen will receive a crown, flowers, banner and $50 Savings Bond; 1st and 2nd runners-up will receive flowers and a banner; Miss Photogenic will take home a picture frame and banner, and all contestants will receive a flower.

The entry fee is $25 with an additional $5 for the Miss Photogenic competition.

To enter Miss Photogenic, each contestant must bring or send a photo no larger than 8×10. Each additional photo will be $5 extra, and must be turned in by 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11. All entry forms and fees are due by Monday, Dec. 6.

The pageant will begin at 2 p.m. Dec. 11. Photographers will be on duty before, during and after the event. Door admission is $3 for adults and $1 for students.

“We appreciate all those who support this event, which really helps out Georgiana School in these tight economic times,” said Lambert.
