Looking for ways to deck the halls and fill the stockings without breaking the bank this holiday season–and helping homeless animals while you save? Then the Butler County Humane Society invites you to their Christmas Extravaganza Yard Sale, set to kick off at 7 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 20 at the Pet Laundry on 810 N. Conecuh St. in Greenville.

“We have lots and lots of great Christmas items-beautiful tree ornaments and other holiday décor items-that have been donated for this sale,” said BCHS yard sale chair Kandys Killough.

Along with all manner of festive decorations, attendees will also be able to browse among gently used stuffed animals, toys and games, home décor items, jewelry, furniture and much, much more, said Killough, both inside and outside the business.

“This would be a great time to pick up some extra decorations or find gifts at very reasonable prices,” Killough said. Proceeds from the yard sale will go to support the proposed Second Chance “no-kill” animal shelter to run in conjunction with the Greenville Animal Shelter. The BCHS also supports the day-to-day operations of the local shelter and assists in providing low cost spaying and neutering for low-income citizens.

The BCHS is also offering recycled pet-themed Christmas cards crafted by member Olga Morton for sale at Grayson’s of Greenville. New BCHS T-shirts in high-quality fabrics with a full-color print of Morton’s artwork are also available at The Smokehouse and through Butler Services/Calhoun Studios. The organization’s 2011 pet calendars featuring local furry and feathered friends will be in town soon, ready for gift giving and available at local shops and through any BCHS member.
