Funeral services for the late Dr. Arthur Lee Dunklin Sr., US Navy, Retired, will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 1 p.m. from St. Paul Baptist Church, the Rev. Dennis McCants, officiating minister. Burial will take place Monday, November 15, 2010 in Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo with Hudson Funeral Services, Greenville, directing. Dr. Arhtue Lee Dunklin Sr. was born to Mildred M. Dunklin on June 9, 1967 in Greenville. At an early age he joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of Crusader and Big Brother organizations. Arthur was salutatorian of his Greenville High School graduating class of 1985 and also joined the U.S. Navy that same year. While serving in the Navy he received numerous awards, medals, stripes and the rank of Chief Petty Officer. While serving in the Navy, Arthur continued his education, receiving his Associate degree, BA, Masters and PhD. Arthur traveled the country and the world. He loved God and had a smile on his face that warmed your heart.

Arthur retired from the U.S. Navy in 2005 and went on to write a book titled Equal Opportunity for African-American Men in the Navy. He met and married Barbara Scott and to this union three sons were born.

Arthur lived in San Joes, Calif., worked at San Jose University as a director. He departed this life on November 4, 2010 at Jackson Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memories three sons, Arthur L. Dunklin Jr, Jeffery G. Dunklin, Gregory A. Dunklin, all of Orlando, Fla., mother, Mildred M. Dunklin, four sisters, Willie M. (Lee Earnest) Brown, Christine butler, all of Greenville, Elizabeth A. Crittenden, Andalusia, Selena Dunklin, Barbara Bedgood; brother, Robert E. Dunklin, great-aunt, Lela Peagler, special cousin, Annie Pearl Carter, all of Greenville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
