Ronnie McGough, a life-long resident of Honoraville, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’ s Lymphoma at the age of 60.

After the initial diagnosis, he underwent chemotherapy at the Montgomery Cancer Center.

The treatments seemed to be successful, but after three weeks in remission, the lymphoma returned.

It was then recommended that Ronnie travel to M.D. Anderson in Houston, TX, to seek further treatments.

Accompanied by his wife, Joan, Ronnie underwent extensive testing and treatment for approximately three weeks.

Ronnie returned to Baptist South in Montgomery on October 5 and was called home to be with his Lord on October 9, 2009.

Being aware of the extra expenses imposed by a catastrophic illness, family and friends have established a non-profit foundation in memory of Ronnie McGough, to provide support to area families who are experiencing a catastrophic illness.

For the purpose of this foundation, a catastrophic illness is defined as one from which an individual will never fully recover or is life threatening, or one requiring a recuperation period of approximately one year or more.

The goal of the Foundation is to help area families with expenses not covered by insurance or other means.

To raise funds, the Foundation will host a booth at the Holiday Fair on November 9 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Tom Harbin Agricultural Center in Luverne.
Other fund raising events will be announced at a later date.
