The new Georgiana Action Civitan Club seeks to help keep area residents in need warm and well fed as the holidays approach.

“We currently have a canned food drive underway at the local Dollar General through the month of November,” said Civitan president Byron Ward.

“We are also accepting donations of new and used school jackets for our needy children in south Butler County.”

Drop-off sites for the jacket donations are Friendly G’s and J & D’s restaurants in Georgiana.

Monetary donations to help purchase food and clothing for the needy  are now being accepted at the Georgiana Bank Trust location.

“We appreciate everyone’s help with our past drives, like our school supplies campaign, and we hope this will be just as successful in helping the needy children and adults in our part of the county,” Ward said.
