The Greenville Career Center was one of nearly 30 career centers across the state hosting an open house this week in celebration of community partnerships in workforce development.

Simultaneous receptions were held on October 20 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at all the comprehensive offices of the Alabama Career Center System.

Earlier in the day, Janice Grayson, manager of the Greenville center, and her team were helping young adults seeking employment during the LBWCC Job Fair. That night, Grayson and the career center employees-Cora Carter, Beth Corbin, Tiffany Tranum, Ronnie Davis and Gerald Watts–were recognized by the Butler County Board of Education for their assistance in finding employment for the system’s Second Chance graduates, former dropouts who have returned to school to earn their GED or high school diplomas.

“Our goal is to work with a number of community partners, like the local community college and our county school system, to help our residents find employment,” said Grayson.

Matthew Hughes, director of the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development, said, “The joint efforts of the Career Centers and their respective local partners in getting the people of Alabama back to work have taken a lot of hard work and have shown enormous dedication to our citizens.”
