A giant slide, Tilt-A-Whirl and spinning strawberries are among the amusement rides that appeared next to Georgiana’s Hank Williams Park on Tuesday as workers set up the mini-carnival that opens for business Thursday night as part of the 2nd Annual October Fest.

Sponsored by the Hank Williams Fan Club, the celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 14 with $1 Night, with a gate fee of just $1 and all rides for $1. The carnival will be in place through Saturday night, offering not only sliding and spinning thrills, but games of chance and festival foods like fresh funnel cakes.

“We feel like this will be something really special for Georgiana, to have a carnival in town for a few days as an extra added attraction for our festival,” said October Fest organizer Sherri Brackin.  The amusement rides will open at 2 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday.
