Sheriff Kenny Harden said they are investigating a church air conditioner theft, the first of its kind for some time.

Kenny thinks recent market fluctuations may be responsible for the recurrence of this type of theft.

“Copper prices are going up some,” Harden said.

Harden said deputies filed a report at Bethlehem Church for theft of property, 1^st, and criminal mischief, 1^st. The central air unit was stolen, presumably to sell the copper.

“Anytime citizens see something suspicious, call us so we can check it out,” Harden said.
