McKenzie head coach Sam Dour is carried off the field following the Tigers' state championship win over Courtland in 1991. Moment captured by former Advocate staffer Gregg Fuller.

McKenzie will honor a former coach during the football team’s game against Georgiana on Oct. 1.

Greg Griffin, with the McKenzie Quarterback Club, said the school will name its athletic fieldhouse for Sam Dour, who led the Tigers to its lone state championship in 1991.

Dour’s ’91 title team went 14-0, beating Courtland 15-7 in the championship game. An offensive juggernaut, the Tigers scored 401 points and allowed just 50 points on defense that season.
