The Greenville Tigers have already seen a great player in Wetumpka quarterback Jamal Golden this season. They’ll see another one Friday night in Paul Bryant High School’s Broderick Hall.

“He’s a very good athlete,” said GHS head coach Ben Blackmon of the 6-foot-3, 182-pound Hall who’s drawing interest from Memphis, Southern Miss, Troy, and Mississippi State. “He’s a good passer and they do a lot with him…in the shotgun, under center, in the spread.”

After two consecutive disappointing weeks, the Tigers (1-1) were able to claim their first victory on Friday night against hapless Central-Tuscaloosa, 47-13. Paul Bryant (2-0) is unbeaten, holding off Selma in the final seconds last week for a 27-20 win.

Blackmon said his team was excited to get a win under its belt on Friday.

“Anytime you can get a win it’s a whole lot better than losing,” he said. “We’re still dealing with the little things, though, and trying to get better as a team.”

On the injury front, offensive lineman Desmond Dunklin has been nursing a shoulder injury. Also injured, linebacker Terrance Thompson and starting running back Patrick Bedgood, who has turf toe, said Blackmon.

“He’ll (Bedgood) practice Wednesday and Thursday and we’ll see how he responds,” said Blackmon.

Friday’s game will be the Tigers firsttrue road contest (aside from a trip to Cramton Bowl for a preseason jamboree).

“I hope our kids treat it like a business trip,” said Blackmon. “Because this is a game that has playoff implications.”
