HHI breaks ground Sept. 17

Gov. Bob Riley announces the location of Hyundai Heavy Industries in Montgomery.

Hyundai Heavy Industries announces a Ground Breaking Ceremony to take place on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. The event will be held at the future site of the company’s first American manufacturing facility at Interstate Industrial Park in Montgomery, Alabama.

The announcement follows news that the Korean-based company chose Montgomery for its first American plant last July.

The selection will bring 480 new jobs to the area, along with a capital investment of $90 million.

Alabama Governor Bob Riley, Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange, Montgomery County Commission Chairman Elton Dean, and representatives from Elmore County, Prattville and Greenville will join Hyundai Heavy Industries CEO and President Jai-seong Lee and other company officials at the official Ground Breaking Ceremony. A catered luncheon will follow for invited guests.
