Attention, all those who want to lend a helping hand at Old Time Farm Days: a special work day is planned at the OTFD site on Saturday, September 11.

Beginning at 8:30 that morning, folks will be rolling up their sleeves and preparing to invest some elbow grease in preparing the site for the Oct. 30 event, said OTFD PR chair, Deborah Salter.

An organizational meeting is planned for the evening at 6:30; everyone is asked to bring a covered dish.

As implied by the change in the name, the annual event is now set for two days. While open to the general public on Saturday, children in K5 and first grade and their teachers will be treated on Friday, October 29, to a visit to the site.

“This will be a real learning for the children,” said Salter. “The groups, led by their teachers, will visit different exhibits like our working blacksmith, grist mall, cane mill and see the milking of a dairy cow. They will also learn all about Indian artifacts.”

Salter said the every-popular petting zoo will also be in place for the youngsters during Kids’ Day on Friday. This is the second year a day for students has been incorporated into the event.

After last year’s monsoon-like rains, organizers have also scheduled a rain day November 6.
