The Highland Home Flying Squadron took off to a hot start against Samson, but the Tigers came away with a 48-28 win.
The Squadron put two quick touchdowns on the board, but Samson came back to take a 14-13 lead.
However, after another HHS touchdown, an interception turned the game around for Samson.
“We threw a couple of interceptions, and then we just couldn’t stop them,” said head coach Tom Pinkston. “They loaded up the wishbone and ran inside at us all night.”
Down 34-13 at the half, HHS scored on the first drive of the third quarter, but Samson responded with another touchdown.
“I felt like we had a chance there,” Pinkston said. “We caught some momentum, but we weren’t able to stop them.”
Arlandis Johnson scored on a sweep from 10 yards out for the Squadron, and Ethan Sexton also had two touchdown runs.
Kase Kelly scrambled for a seven-yard touchdown run as well.
Overall, the Squadron had 274 yards of offense.
“We’re still moving the ball, but we also had three interceptions, so that’s not good,” Pinkston said. “We’ve just got to get better.”
