Rutledge news: Local son leaves for Kuwait

Published 3:44 pm Tuesday, August 31, 2010

I saw Ruby Polk Sunday night; she told me that her son Brandon, who has been home for the past couple of weeks or so, left last Friday. He called her from Kuwait; he had stopped in Canada and Germany – he said it was right at 50 degrees there; and when he got to Kuwait, it as about 130 degrees! We’re all praying for his safety and the safety of all our young men and women in the military, no matter where they are.

Our friends Robby and Christy Morrow were in a car accident on Saturday night, on the way home from a wedding. They’re both in the hospital in Dothan. They have a long recuperation ahead of them, and I know you’ll join me in praying for them.

The Peanut Boil Festival on Labor Day weekend is upon us- activities include a car show, beauty pageant, 5K run and a 1 mile fun run, and an arts and crafts festival. If you’re donating baked goods for the sweet shop, don’t forget to take them by on Friday.
