Prepare for an “unforgettable” evening as the LBW Community College Foundation presents “Nat King Cole – As I Know Him,” highlighting the life and songs of the famous Montgomery native. The performance is set for Saturday, August 21, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dixon Center for the Performing Arts in Andalusia.

Originally scripted by Dr. Wade Hall with additions by Tim Wells, who stars in the performance, the play is directed by Opp native Margie Benson and brings the music and story of Nat King Cole to life as seen through the eyes of Amos Harris, avid fan and founder of the Nat King Cole Society.

Cole, a Montgomery native, accomplished a lot of “firsts” in his life, including being the first African American on a television show and to perform on a radio show. His many songs include such hits as “Mona Lisa,” “When I Fall in Love,” “Ramblin’ Rose,” and “The Very Thought of You.”

Wells, now retired, is a 20-year veteran as Musical Ambassador with the U.S. Army Field Band. As a bonus, a patriotic musical salute will begin the evening’s activities.

General admission tickets are $25 each and available from any LBWCC Foundation board member and in the Foundation office, located in the college’s student center in Andalusia. VIP tickets are also available for $100 each and include reserved seating and a reception prior to the performance. All proceeds from the event will support the Foundation scholarship program.
