The Butler County Humane Society is sending out an SOS: “Send Out Snaps!”

“We need lots more entries for our 2011 Pet Calendar Contest, and time is running out,” said Annie Crenshaw, calendar chair for the local organization.

“In order to get these beautiful calendars back in time for Thanksgiving and the holidays, our deadline is Saturday, July 31.”

Photos of current and past beloved pets, including horses, birds, rabbits, and more are welcome along with those cute kitty and canine shots, says Crenshaw.

The cost is a $5 donation per photo, with no limit on the number of photos submitted. The top three photos will be used on the front cover of the calendar, with runners-up featured in photo collages for each month.

The BCHS is also looking for those heart-warming tales of “fur-ever” homes being found for rescued or adopted animals.

“Share your story of a special pet with us, and it could be featured in our calendar,” said Crenshaw. “Just remember, send those great stories and photos soon.”

Photo prints or digital images on disks should be mailed, along with entry fee, name, address, phone and e-mail to: PET PHOTO CONTEST, Butler County Humane Society, P.O. Box 264, Greenville, AL 36037.

Digital photo images should be e-mailed to: anniecrenshaw@centurytel.net with payments sent to the above address. Payments to the BCHS are tax deductible, and go in support of the day-to-day operations of the Greenville Animal Shelter and the planned Second Chance no-kill shelter for the county.
