UPDATE: The Greenville Advocate has learned that Hyundai Heavy Industries will be coming to Montgomery. The business, which will produce 500-ton transformers, plans to bring $90 million of investment capital and 500 jobs to the area.

Hundreds of new jobs are likely headed to Montgomery this morning, with a press conference scheduled for 10 a.m. Could Greenville benefit?

With unemployment in double digits in Butler County, Mayor Dexter McLendon said the news is certainly welcome. He and business leaders from Greenville are in Montgomery today.

The announcement will be made at the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce. Gov. Bob Riley will be attending as well.
