Herbert Watts Jr., a lifelong resident of Greenville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Georgiana Health and Rehabilitation Facility at the age of 83. Mr. Watts was a retired educator of the Butler County School System. Funeral services were held July 6, 2010 at 1 p.m. from Butler Chapel AME Zion Church with Rev. Harold O. Simpson, pastor, officiating. He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Watts. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Ollie H. Watts; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Joyce Brewer, Greenville; three sons, Raloh Watts, Greenville, Michael (Marianne) Watts, Germany; James (Cheryl) Watts, Suffolk, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Susie Cooper, Pensacola, Fla., a special daughter-in-law, Mrs. Emma Watts of Greenville; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Southside Mortuary directed the services.
