While voter turnout was low overall, several big County Commission races still managed to bring voters to the polls around the county.

Districts 1, 2 and 4 featured runoffs to earn a spot in November’s general election.

In District 1, incumbent Ricky McElwain defeated Robert McGough 330-201.

District 2 saw Michelle Stephens earn 304 votes, while Michael (Caz) Casalinuovo earned 226.

District 4 incumbent Ronnie Hudson lost to challenger Chris West 207-170.

Overall, 2,513 voters turned out for the election, which is about the number Probate Judge Jim Perdue said he expected.

“We had about 25 percent turnout, which should be better than the state average,” he said. “I think that’s due to three very well-run commission races, and our candidates should be commended for those.”

The only votes that remain to be counted are the provisional ballots, but Perdue said he expects less than 10 of those countywide.
