Senator Wendell Mitchell made his first public appearance in months at LBWCC-Luverne last week, and he says his health is steadily improving.

“I’m getting stronger every week,” Mitchell said.

Mitchell’s last public appearance came on March 29, when he was on hand to dedicate Brantley’s new baseball field.

Shortly after that appearance, he was hospitalized for an illness that was diagnosed as leukemia.

“My problem is now in remission,” Mitchell said. “I’m getting back into the mainstream, and getting a chance to talk with my constituents again.”

Mitchell also mentioned that his future plans remain intact, including the November election.

“I’m doing well, and I’m still planning to run for re-election,” he said.
