7:49 The first box of the night is in, and it’s the absentee votes. Ricky McElwain holds a 14-4 lead over W.L Massey for County Commission District 1, and Merrill Sport holds a 40-20 advantage over Kyle Richburg in District 3. Candidates in District 2, 4 and 5 are all within five votes of each other.

Charles West holds a 67-31 vote lead over Edward Williams in the Sheriff’s race. Randy Wilkes also has an 85-30 margin over Joe Eiland for Superintendent.

The local Republican races are uncontested until November, for the most part, so I’ll only be updating the local Democratic races.
