Reggie Mantooth is returning to Greenville to lead Fort Dale Academy’s girls and boys basketball programs, headmaster David Brantley confirmed on Thursday.

Mantooth coached 13 years at Fort Dale before leaving in July 2007 to take a head coaching job at Oak Mountain High School. Mantooth won five state titles (girls championships in 1996, 1999, and 2004; boys in 2003 and 2004) as a coach at Fort Dale.

Mantooth takes over for his former assistant, William Johnson, who coached four years under Mantooth before being named head coach. Johnson announced his resignation at Fort Dale last week and will take over the basketball program at Pike Liberal Arts School in Troy.

“We appreciate all of Coach Johnson’s hard work and diligence and we’re happy to have Coach Mantooth returning,” said Brantley.
