No doubt spring is in the air as activities around Butler County have picked up. If you want something to do this weekend, there’s plenty.

PCA Rodeo: The sheriff’s office is sponsoring its first annual rodeo at the Butler County Fairgrounds on Friday and Saturday evening. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with events scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 adults and $5 for children under 12. Concessions will be available.

Bark in the Park: A popular gathering for families and their pets, the Butler County Humane Society’s annual Bark in the Park is Saturday starting at 9 a.m. and running through 1 p.m. T-shirts, tote bags and prizes galore, plus a bake sale.

GPRD track meet: The city’s parks department is hosting its annual city-wide track meet on Saturday at Greenville High School. The event will start at 9 a.m. and is open to boys, ages nine to 14 years old.

Salute-A-Soldier: The City of Georgiana hosts Salute-A-Soldier this Saturday. Free admission with arts and crafts, karaoke, door prizes, and live music during the day. American Idol finalist Josh Gracin stakes the stage at 9 p.m. (admission will be charged).

Baseball playoffs: McKenzie (on the road) and Greenville High School (here, at Beeland Park) open the first round of the playoffs on Friday. In Class 5A, GHS hosts Rehobeth at Beeland Park on Friday at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. If necessary, a third game will be played on Saturday at 3 p.m. McKenzie travels to play J.U. Blacksher in Class 1A. The Tigers play at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday. A third game will be played at 11 a.m. on Saturday, if necessary.
