“Providence Christian is much improved from last year, so we were pleased to get the wins,” said head coach Ashley Kilcrease.

Providence Christian is this year’s area runner-up.

On Monday, the Bulldogs traveled to Dothan, and jumped out to an early lead.

In the sixth inning, Brantley held an 8-2 lead, but Providence rallied.

“Adam Hill got us out of that, and Chase Hall came in and closed it,” Kilcrease said.

Despite winning 8-7, the Bulldogs only had five hits.

“They walked several of our guys and hit several, and we were able to do enough to win,” Kilcrease said.

On Tuesday, Brantley played Providence again, but this time it was at home.

“We were down the whole game, but we just chipped away at it,” Kilcrease said.

Down 6-5 in the bottom of the sixth, Reid Kilcrease got on base and then stole second.

A hit from Hall tied the game, but Providence pulled ahead again in the seventh inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, Hill reached based and Jared Hall followed up with a double.

A hit from Matthew Holmes brought in the two game-winning runs.

The Bulldogs play Red Level today, but the possibility of rain means the game could be rescheduled.
