Fort Dale senior Shelby Crews signed to play basketball at Judson College today.

Crews said her college recruiter is who pushed her to visit the school.

Crew’s parents and grandparents were present to watch her sign to Judson College, an all-women institution located in Marion, Al.

“I didn’t want to go there at first, but then Dani (Judson College recruiter) called me and everything sounded pretty cool,” Crews said. “I went up there and hung out with one of my friends, and it was a lot like home. It was a really great atmosphere.”

Ask Crews what she wants to study in college and she’ll be quick to tell you equine science. The senior has two horses at home, Martin and Zinc, and has been around horses her entire life.

When Crew makes the two-hour journey to Marion, however, Martin and Zinc might be able to tag along. Though she will be staying at a dorm, Crew hopes her horses will be a short walk away, at the school’s equine facility.
