When the Professional Cowboy Association couldn’t find the sponsors to bring the rodeo back to Greenville, it got Sheriff Kenny Harden thinking.

“It’s something we thought was important enough to bring back to Greenville,” Harden said.

The Butler County Sheriff’s department decided to sponsor the event this year. The rodeo will be held Friday April 16 and Saturday April 17 at the Butler County Fairgrounds.

“It’s a good family oriented event for the kids to come out and enjoy,” Harden said. “Bring your family out and have a good time.”

All proceeds from the event will be used to buy equipment for the sheriff and his deputies.

“That will mean less money the taxpayers will have to provide, because we won’t have to go through our budget to buy equipment.

The rodeo will feature such events as bareback riding, calf roping, team roping and steer wrestling. There will also be barrel racing, breakaway roping, saddle bronc riding, bull riding and rodeo clowns.

There will also be several booths set up selling concessions and also giving out free prizes. Harden said Butler County Cattleman’s Association will be giving away a certificate for free meat. Tractor Supply, 4-H club and Kiwanis will also be present.

Also, Harden said they will be distributing pictures to schools for children to color.

“When the kids come to the rodeo, they can turn that picture in and we will have a drawing to give away a bicycle away each night.”

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 5-12 and can be purchased at the door.
