For many people, spring means a good clean up and de-cluttering. The Greenville-Butler County Public Library would like to help you out with the latter.

The library’s annual used book sale is just around the corner, and librarian Burke McFerrin says her staff is still gladly taking donations to the cause. The sale is set for Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10.

“We are still taking your books, magazine, sheet music, DVDs, CDs and will right up to the start of the sale,” McFerrin said.

Monies raised by the annual sale help provide for library needs not covered by the annual budget – new furnishings or needed supplies for the children’s library room, for example.

“The sale allows us to offer our patrons more for their library experience, and it gives readers a chance to really stock up on some great books at very reasonable prices,” McFerrin said.

“With the continuing recession, it is especially important for everyone to watch their spending. The book sale allows families and individuals to continue to build their home libraries without breaking the bank.”

All types of books are welcome – fiction and non-fiction, children’s books, mysteries and thrillers, romances, comic novels, along with cookbooks, craft books, inspirational books and more.

On April 9, a sneak preview sale is held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Cost of admission is $5 and attendees get the first pick of the bounty of books.

On April 10, admittance is free and the sale is set for 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Prices start at 50 cents per paperback and $1 for hardbacks; on Saturday, prices will fall in the afternoon as everything must go, McFerrin said.
