Two Crenshaw County residents are up for election on the Covington Electric Cooperative board of trustees, and the voting will be held at the CEC’s annual membership meeting on April 8.

During a brief business session, a report on CEC operations will be presented and two members will be elected to three-year terms on the board of trustees to represent Districts III and IV.

Nominees named by the nominating committee to be voted on for possible election to the board are Willie B. Smith and Larry Morgan, both of Brantley, for District III.

Heflin Smith and Warren Hataway, both of Kinston, are up for election in District IV.

Willie B. Smith and Heflin Smith are incumbent trustees for Districts III and IV, respectively.

Willie Smith is currently employed with the First National Bank of Dozier as president and CEO. He has worked at the bank for 28 years.

Smith serves as a member of the Crenshaw County Board of Education. He is a member of the Brantley United Methodist Church. He is married to the former June Layton of Brantley, and they have two daughters, a son-in-law and one grandchild.

Larry Morgan is the town administrator of Brantley, and has been employed with the town for 29 years this May. He received his bachelor’s degree in education from Troy University.

Morgan and his wife, Debbie, have two sons and two grandchildren. They attend the Word of Faith Church in Brantley.

There will also be entertainment and door prizes available at the meeting.

Registration begins at 3 p.m., the entertainment starts at 5 p.m. and the business session will begin at 7 p.m.

The meeting will be held on April 8 at the Kiwanis Community Center south of Andalusia on County Road 56 (South Bypass).
